bangkok bound

We've just wrapped up a whirlwind tour of Kyoto, Japan. Due to the aforementioned misadventure we only had two full days here. Day 1 we rented bicycles and toured the temples on the outer reaches of the city. I also had my first face to face encounter with monkeys. I set out to prove that man and monkey could coexist peacefully, but one of them hissed at me.

The next day we did an all-day trek up to Mount Hiei, a mountaintop temple complex and the headquarters of Tendai buddhism.

Now we're off to Bangkok...the flight's boarding as I type.

Big lesson from Japan: Don't play the name-that-food item game. It's impossible!

making lemonade

Our honeymoon got off to a bumpy start! We had a tight connection in San Francisco to our flight to Japan. My passport was left on our flight from JFK. By the time we realized and could recover our passport, we just missed the flight to Japan. UGH!

The good news is, this really didn't drop our spirits. We went into San Francisco for the day, had a great time buying new outfits to wear (as our bags are still checked), and enjoyed a lovely day in the sunshine. Eating dinner at a sidewalk cafe in North Beach, we thought, even Japan isn't this nice!

Our new flight leaves tomorrow morning. My passport will be duct taped to my body!

married one month

It's our month-iversary today. We're celebrating it in our new, incredible apartment. The floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony overlooking the Norwalk River are just awesome!

On Saturday, we leave for our honeymoon. We'll try to post updates here from time to time as we travel.

Married Life, Day 18

Kirsten is just as beautiful as the day I married her.
